QLC Helps Create Memorable Event

The project might have been named Taste Tomorrow, however when Puratos approached Quiet Light, it required assistance today. At the time, Puratos had commissioned a global research study to provide insight on consumer behavior and choices related to bakery, patisserie, pastry and chocolate products. A large sample size—6400 consumers—yielded a valuable and unprecedented amount of qualitative and quantitative data, specially related to baking and chocolate.

Puratos then needed an equally impressive venue to host an event for thought leaders from throughout the industry to share this information. The information literally could help manufacturers and marketers “turn today’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities.” The event was as unique as the research itself—two days designed to surpass expectations among all those invited.

Puratos selected key locations in various countries around the globe for these events. In North America, they chose Chicago. QLC was charged with finding a special venue, that also offered the right combination of space to house visitors, conference areas for presentations and breakout sessions, and facilities to prepare and display plenty of samples of Puratos products.

QLC helped identify and secure the historic Drake Hotel, a Chicago landmark since 1920, with elegantly appointed meeting and conference rooms of ample size, suitable for such a large event and the many guests it would house. The event was designed as invitation-only, and QLC developed a multistage communications campaign with notes to nudge busy executives into action, including a save the date email, invitation email, paper invitation and reminders.

QLC also supplied onsite communications, such as the event program and other collateral material. In addition, our communications staff made sure key industry publications sent editors to attend the event for coverage of research results and speaker topics. Staff acted as liaisons to connect editors with Puratos personnel, during and after the event. This helped complete the circle of marketing and publicity designed to make Taste Tomorrow a continued topic of interest long after the last baguette crumb was consumed.
